Pyracantha Red (Pyracantha coccinea 'Red Column') is a thorny, climbing evergreen shrub with glossy green leaves. Clouds of white flowers bloom in the spring, followed by clusters of deep red berries in the autumn.

Also known as Firethorn, Pyracantha Red (Pyracantha coccinea 'Red Column') is ideal for use as security hedging as it forms a dense, prickly hedge, or can be trained against a wall. It's tough and hardy nature makes it suitable for a range of demanding conditions including shaded and exposed positions. Firethorn also attracts an array of wildlife, especially birds, due to its clusters of long-lasting, deep-red berries.

A fast growing hedging plant, Pyracantha Red (Pyracantha coccinea 'Red Column') will grow on average 30cm to 60cm per year. It has an ultimate height of 4 metres and an ultimate spread of 4 metres, taking up to 20 years to reach its ultimate height and spread.
