When growing Green Privet (Ligustrum ovalifolium) it will thrive best in any well-drained, or moist but well-drained soil in sun or partial shade. Due to its hardy nature, it can also tolerate poor soil in shady areas.
As a hedging plant, we recommend planting Green Privet (Ligustrum ovalifolium) 3 plants per metre in a single row, or 5 plants for a double staggered row. In order to maintain a formal hedge shape regular trimming is required during a growing season. When regularly trimmed Green Privet will not produce flowers or fruit. For informal hedging, trimming should take place in late winter or early spring.
