Rosemary

Rosemary (Rosmarinus Officinalis Arp) is a popular hedging plant or shrub commonly used in the kitchen. It can form an attractive low hedge, either trimmed or informal, especially when the pretty blue flowers appear in spring.

Rosemary has fragrant, evergreen leaves which are native to the Mediterranean region. Because of its origin, Rosemary is a particularly drought-tolerant plant, which is hardy in most locations in the UK.

When planting Rosemary, locations should be in direct sunlight, although the plant is less fussy when it comes to soil types. Rosemary can be planted in sand, clay, chalk and loam types, as well as acid, alkaline and neutral soil. Rosemary cannot take extremely cold temperatures; it is often ideal to plant them during the spring or summer, or to keep the plants sheltered or indoors during the winter if possible.
