Red Robin (Photinia x Fraseri) is an attractive, large, evergreen shrub. It has distinctive bright red leaves which darken with age. They also develop white flowers in the spring, which make for a visually attractive plant. Photinia Red Robin provides good dense cover when planted as a hedge as it is remarkably fast growing, and very easy to care for, making it a great way to get a quick, distinctive addition to your garden.
Though Photinia Red Robin are naturally hardy, they are best kept out of locations susceptible to extreme weather. However, they do grow well in both direct sunlight and partially shaded environments. Photinia Red Robin can also be planted in acidic or neutral soil types. If you are using the Photinia Red Robin as a hedge then you should consider removing the tips of young shoots in order to encourage re-growth of the vibrant red leaves. This can be done up to three times a year.
