Osmanthus Tricolour (Osmanthus Heterophyllus Goshiki) is a compact evergreen shrub which responds well to clipping. Osmanthus Tricolour is often grown for its attractive flowers and foliage and are ideal for hedging plants.

The colourful holly-like leaves are varying shades of green and cream, with a hint of pink and bronze when young. This distinctive foliage makes Osmanthus Tricolour a particularly attractive hedging plant which is well suited to informal gardens and woodland properties. The leaves of the Osmanthus Tricolour are coarsely spined, which means that the plant is also well sought after as a garden border - which can provide additional security to a home.

Osmanthus Tricolour develop small, fragrant orange, yellow or white flowers. These develop in the late summer or autumn, and are followed by small black or blue fruits. It is a slow growing shrubs which can be planted in most soil groups, including sand, chalk and sand rich soil, as well as soils which display levels of acid or alkaline.

When planting Osmanthus Tricolour you can plant them in direct sunlight and sheltered locations, though try not to plant during periods where the Osmanthus Tricolour may face prolonged exposure to severe cold winds. This type of hedging plant is also suited to coastal locations, and makes a remarkably hardy plant suited to most UK climates and weather conditions.
