Griselinia Littoralis (New Zealand Privet) is an attractive, large evergreen plant with distinctive pale green, oval-shaped leaves. It can also have very small, inconspicuous yellow-green flowers, and small purple berries.
Commonly known as known as Kapuka or New Zealand Broadleaf, Griselinia Littoralis is ideal for use as dense evergreen hedging, and is the perfect choice if you are looking for a fast growing hedge. Most likely to be seen in coastal areas, due to its tolerance of salt being carried by sea gales.
Tough and versatile, Griselinia Littoralis will thrive in well-drained soil and full sun. As a hedging plant we recommend planting Griselinia Littoralis 3 plants per metre in a single row, and trimming in the late spring/early summer. Although, it can also be trimmed in late August/early September.
A fast-growing evergreen plant, the Griselinia Littoralis can reach an ultimate height of 8 metres and an ultimate spread of 4 metres. It can take the Griselinia Littoralis up to 20 years to reach its ultimate height and spread.
When purchased from the Hedgingplants.com nursery, Griselinia Littoralis are 50-80cm plants in 2 litres pots. Griselinia Littoralis is available for planting any time of the year, depending on stock.
