Elaeagnus Ebbingei is a large evergreen shrub featuring pale green leaves with a silver underside. In the autumn, intensely fragrant, small, white flowers appear in clusters; followed by colourful orange and red berries in the spring. The Elaeagnus Ebbingei is ideal for shady, windy or seaside positions.
A fast grower, the Elaeagnus Ebbingei grows on average 30 to 50cm per year; with an ultimate height of up to 4 metres and ultimate spread of up to 4 metres. To reach its maximum height and spread, it can take as little as 5 years - or as much as 10 years.
The Elaeagnus Ebbingei will thrive in most soils, but is best suited to well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. It is tolerant of dry soils and coastal winds, but may become chlorotic on shallow chalky soils. As a hedging plant, we recommend planting Elaeagnus Ebbingei 1 trough per metre, and trimming in spring.
When purchased from the Hedgingplants.com nursery, Elaeagnus Ebbingei are 180cm high hedging elements in 1 metre length biodegradable cardboard troughs. Where stocks allow, Elaeagnus Ebbingei is available for planting most of the year.
