As autumn progresses they take on rich hues of gold and coppery orange, before turning russet brown in winter.
Purple Beech (Fagus sylvatica Purpurea) is a deciduous plant, however if it is trimmed regularly it will retain most of its russet brown leaves during the winter - providing shelter and privacy all year round.
