Purple Beech (Fagus sylvatica purpurea) is one of our most popular species with its familiar wavy edged leaves, these emerge in spring and are delicate pale purple/green at first fluttering in the slightest breeze becoming darker purple and more robust by summer. As autumn progresses they take on rich hues of gold and coppery orange before turning russet brown in winter.

To be precise, Purple Beech (Fagus sylvatica purpurea)  is a deciduous plant however if it is trimmed regularly it will retain most of its russet brown leaves during the winter providing shelter and privacy all year round.
